Big Bud Tractors Inc. was born out of the Wagner tractor dealership in Havre, Montana in 1969. The company's goal was to build heavy-duty high horsepower tractors. The tractors used industrial engines fitted to custom built frames. The company developed a number of innovations for heavy duty tractors, including tilting cabs and a skid system for engine removal.

Production slowed in the late 1980s and the last Big Bud rolled off the line in 1991. Over 500 Big Bud 4wds were produced during the lines 20 plus year production run. Today 99% of the Big Bud tractors manufactured are still earning there keep in the field and on earth moving projects around the world. The Big Bud brand continues under the ownership of Randy and Robert Williams.

Toy Tractor Times.com introduced a new line of Big Bud tractors with the Williams Bros. Big Bud. The series was manufactured by Universal Hobbies. UH is best known for their extremely detailed 1/32 farm toys and construction equipment, mostly of European origin.
